Operation Lone Star
For the last four years, Texas stepped up under Operation Lone Star to protect Texans and Americans from the unprecedented border crisis created by the Biden Administration’s reckless open border policies.
Now, Texas has a partner in the White House to restore the rule of law and defend our nation at the southern border. After taking the oath of office, President Donald Trump took immediate action as our nation's chief executive to make America safe and secure again. To support the President's mission to secure the border, Governor Greg Abbott deputized the Texas National Guard to make immigration arrests, deployed the Texas Tactical Border Force to work side-by-side with U.S. Border Patrol agents, directed the Texas Department of Public Safety to deploy tactical strike teams to help locate and arrest criminal illegal immigrants, and more.
Governor Abbott launched Operation Lone Star in 2021, deploying the Texas National Guard and Texas Department of Public Safety to the southern border. Operation Lone Star personnel work around-the-clock with federal partners to deter and repel illegal crossings, arrest human smugglers and cartel gang members, and stop the flow of deadly drugs like fentanyl into our nation.
